Kim

Kim Grinfeder is an artist, designer, and creator who uses emergent technologies to practice new ways to transmit social and environmental issues. Kim was born in Seoul, Korea in 1972 and has since lived in Brazil, France, and the United States. Kim received his Master’s degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU. He works at the University of Miami and is the founder and chair of the Department of Interactive Media, Director of the XR Initiative, and an associate professor. His research focus is immersive storytelling, emerging narratives, and using technology for social impact.

Kim’s work has been shown at festivals and competitions, including the Webby’s, the Atlanta Film Festival, Hotdocs, SXSWedu, Online News Association, and National Press Photographers Association, amongst others. His work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, galleries, and other venues.
